We need your help! Can you pledge us a pound or as much as you can afford? We know times are hard but really need your help more than ever to raise funds to benefit all members of our club and help send a team to The Bingham Cup 2024 in Rome. Every penny counts and will really make a difference.

About us
We are Plymouth Dolphins RFC, The City of Plymouth Inclusive LGBTQ+ Rugby Club. Founded in late 2021 with an initial training session in January 2022 where 10 people turned up. We’ve provided a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and allies to come together and learn a new sport. We pride ourselves that training is fun and welcoming. We focus on the individuals that collectively make up our club and team and we’ve now grown to over 35 members in a very short time.

Our club has inimitable energy, welcoming everyone who wants to play and offering fun, friendship and increasingly competitive rugby to many who may have felt excluded from sport in the past.

We are celebrating the end of our first season by coming 3rd in the IGR Southern Development league, having started out with just a handful of players – this is an amazing achievement. The team is a mix of veterans and complete newcomers and is now a thriving club. We have enjoyed highlights like an away 36-22 win, many home wins and hosting the IGR Southern Leagues finals. We have tried hard and succeeded with creating a family that has made more people fall in love with rugby, have safe space to rely on and truly have a sense of worth.

Our ultimate goal is to send a team to The Bingham Cup 2024. This doesn’t come cheap!

The Mark Kendall Bingham Memorial Tournament, or as it is more widely known, Bingham Cup, is the biennial world championship of gay and inclusive rugby, considered to be ‘The world cup of gay and inclusive rugby’. This flagship IGR tournament was first held in 2002, in memory of 9/11 gay rugby hero, Mark Bingham, one of the passengers who fought back against hijackers on board United flight 93. Mark’s club, San Francisco Fog, hosted the first Bingham Cup back in 2002, which was attended by 8 teams. Today, the event has grown to be the world’s largest amateur rugby tournament with 74 teams and hundreds of players competing and enjoying rugby. We would love to be able to send a team as it would be an amazing experience for our team to be part of!

We appreciate any contribution you make! Thank you so much!
